Ally Vella

Ally Ceramics began when, in 2020, Ally Vella discovered a passion for ceramics and the tactile beauty of clay. Specialising in hand-building techniques, Vella primarily works with coils and slabs. These methods allow her to mould and shape clay in a natural and raw state. Her philosophy centres around following ideas and materials intuitively. Vella starts with an idea and allows the clay to direct her and change along the way. Clay is fluid and so is her process. This philosophy has taught her profoundly, not only in the craft, but also in life.
The "Coral" series is made using slab, coil, and pinch pot techniques. Made from stoneware, these vases showcase a natural colour palette that highlights their organic charm. Each vase, with its unique form, exudes a sense of movement and pattern, giving tactile and visual depth. The natural tones and fluid shapes bring a touch of nature indoors, celebrating the raw beauty of the earth.
Although each piece forms part of a cluster, each one is also unique. From the smallest to the largest, there is a clear sense of evolution, growth, and progress. The transition is almost comparable to the development from childhood to adulthood.
