Hae Won Sohn
This project is a collaboration between Hae Won Sohn and Stipan Tadić. They bring together their expertise in ceramics and painting to create a series of collaborative ceramics. Sohn's wheel-thrown forms serve as the canvas for Tadić's paintings using oxide washes, blending their skills and cultural backgrounds into each piece. While working freely with various motifs, they often incorporate cultural and personal narratives from their East Asian and Eastern European backgrounds. For CLAY / CRAFT / CONCEPT Sohn and Tadić have expanded their repertoire by including works that utilise maiolica glaze and ornaments inspired by Mediterranean ceramics.
Stipan Tadić completed his MFA at Columbia University School of the Arts, Visual Arts program, in 2020, and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 2011. His first solo show was in 2009, and since then he has had numerous solo and group exhibitions. Tadić has also been creating murals in public spaces across Europe since 2012. In 2014, he published his first comic book, titled Parisian Nightmares, and has contributed to independent comic zines since then. He is the co-organiser of the Biennial Exhibition of Antisalon, founded in 2012, which is still running today. Tadić is the recipient of several awards, including the Best Young Artist Award from HDLU, Zagreb, in 2013, the 1st Award at the International Comic Book Festival in Łódź, Poland, and various other domestic and international prizes.
