Tiziana Schembri

Tiziana Schembri, also known as Ceramicsbytiz, is known for her unique blend of wheel-thrown and hand-built creations. Her latest collection is a whimsical homage to historical ceramics, drawing inspiration from the rich legacies of Greek and Roman pottery. Schembri’s work merges these classical influences with contemporary forms, celebrating the quasi-deification of our beloved pets that, much like ancient tales, depicted gods and myths on everyday utilitarian ceramic ware. Her two whippets, aptly named Boudicca and Agrippina, play a significant role in her artistic narrative, infusing her pieces with charm and character. Through her work, Schembri bridges the past and present, crafting pieces that are both timeless and deeply relevant to modern culture.
The collection "Modern Veneration: My Whippets in Contemporary Ceramics" draws inspiration from the forms and depictions of deities in antiquity, reimagining them to reflect the reverential status of pets in today's culture, especially on social media.
